We've all heard sayings about first impressions: "First impressions are the most lasting." "You never get a second chance to make a first impression." Apparently, these things are pretty important.
So why the title: Drums, Guns, and Bums? What sort of first impression does that load of nonsense inspire?
Actually, those three words sum up an awful lot of the stuff that I like to write about.
"Drums." Been playing 'em since I was fourteen, and have been lucky enough to make this hobby into a bit of a part-time job by giving private lessons and working with high school drumlines. Music will always be a huge part of who I am, and even though it's easier for me to mess around with an electric guitar lately, drums will always be the first instrument I think of when I think about music. If you don't like REAL music - you know, the kind that people with real instruments make:
- then you might want to never come back here again.
"Guns." I like action movies. Hey - I like more than just action movies: animated films, comedies, sci-fi, horror, drama, fantasy, drama . . . heck, there's even some musicals I enjoy (although that category is really only made up of the movie Across the Universe and maybe Chicago). For every dollar I have made as a part-time musician, I have probably spent five dollars on films and TV series to add to what my wife refers to as our private Blockbuster store! Be prepared to read my opinions on movies, especially ones that make stuff blow up real purty-like.
"Bums." This refers to my penchant for ranting about people I don't like: over-paid athletes, narcissistic celebrities, incompetent politicians, drug- and woman-abusing musicians, or just plain crazy motherf*$@ers who kill their children and get away with it, I sure enjoy making fun of people who I feel have more than earned it!
Plus - let's be honest - "Drums, Guns and Bums" sounds far more interesting than "Spalding's Blog."
Sounds like a interesting page can't wait for more posts
